Not more than 700 words, typewritten on A
4 size paper, using word. The essay is basically about yourseft. It
should tell us about you and essentially what you would want the reader
to know about yourself. The essay could focus on your personal life,
your background, your achievements, accomplishments or on your
experiences. Nobody knows you better than yourseft, so tell the readers
all that you would want them to know about you. How well you’ll do this,
depends on your ideas and your writing skills.
Below are some basic guidelines for international applicants of UiTM's Postgraduate Programmes.

All international applicants need to submit a letter of
certification from thier Ministry of Education verifying nationality and
academic qualifications of candidate.

Applications without the above document will not be processed.
-
For international students applying from within Malaysia, the
certification letter can be obtained from the Embassy/Consulate/High
Commision of the applicant's home country situated in Malaysia.
-
Academic transcripts and supporting documents must be certified true copies.
-
Certification should be done by a senior public official from the applicant's country or from Malaysia.
-
All application forms and supporting documents must be submitted to
the Institute of Graduate Studies, UiTM, before the deadline
stipulated.
Academic Qualification
-
Master's Program - Applicant must have a
Bachelor’s Degree with Honours in a relevant field of study from a
university that is recognized by the University Senate and the Malaysian
government.

PhD Program - Applicant must have a Master's
Degree in a relevant field of study from a university recognized by the
University Senate and the Malaysian government. [Certain programmes may have other requirements stipulated by the Faculty]
Language Proficiency Applicants
must show proficiency in English as all programmes are conducted in
English. International candidates applying for graduate programmes must
have a TOEFL score of 550 or an IELTS score of at least Band 6.0. These
scores are to be submitted together with the application. If necessary,
applicants will be asked to go through an academic English Programme.
This intensive pre-sessional programme is conducted from April to May
for a nominal sum.
Other Requirements Applicants must also :
- show proof of financial ability to pursue thier studies and live in
malaysia for the duration of study. A letter of financial
guarantee/sponshorship or the most recent financial statement from
applicant's bank is sufficent.
- clear the medical check-up by the University's health authorities;
- have international passports with at least two years validity and meet all immigration procedures.

Intake
Most programmes have two intakes per
calender year - in June and December. International students should
submit their application six months prior to intake.

Fees
-
All fees, charges and accounts will be payable in advance as
determined by UiTM from time to time. Students will not be permitted to
commence or continue their studies at the beginning of any semester
until all outstanding fees, charges or accounts are paid.

Fees are correct as at the time of printing. UiTM reservesthe right to vary its fees at any time.
Registration
-
New postgraduate students are required to register on the official
registration day. A fee of RM250 will be imposed for late registration
with RM10 increment for subsequent days after that.

The offer of study will automatically be terminated if you do not register within 14 days from the official registration date.
English Language ProficiencyAll
international applicants from non-English speaking countries applying
for postgraduate studies in UiTM are required to show proof of English
language proficiency as follows:

a TOEFL certificate with a score of at least
o 550 for (paper based), or
o 213 (computer based), or
o 79-80 (IBT), or
-
an IELTS certificate with at least Band 6.0
Any other English language certificates other than
TOEFL and IELTS are not accepted by the university. If the student, at
the time of registration, fails to show proof of the required English
language test results, he/she will be required to attend a Foundation
English Course (FEC) for 1 semester, provided he/she passed the
Placement Test. Otherwise, the student will be required to attend
English Courses outside UiTM.
Visa Conditions

International Students are not permitted to study on a parttime basis.
-
International students are required to pay RM150.00 as the fee for a student visa.
-
UiTM is obliged to report to the relevant authorities any student
who has failed to comply with the University’s requirements. Such a
student may be asked by the relevant authorities to leave the country.
Refund Policy
-
Upon a student’s acceptance of a place offered by UiTM, a binding
contract is deemed to have been created between the student and UiTM.
-
Students who wish to withdraw from the university within 28 days of
the official registration, will receive a refund of 80% from the
original study fees. No refund will be given after that period.

Notification of cancellation/withdrawal from unit/s, withdrawal or
deferral from a course of study must be made in writing to UiTM.
-
Students terminated by UiTM will not be entitled to any refund of fees.
-
UiTM reserves the discretion not to offer a course previously made
available. Where a student is unable to enroll in a similar course at
UiTM and the enrolment is cancelled then all fees paid will be refunded
with the exception of a RM400 administration fee.
DefermentYou are allowed to
defer your admission to the following semester. This can be done only
once. Application for deferment of study can be made by filling the
‘Application for Deferment of Study’ form which is to be submitted
together with a processing fee of RM50.00.
Leave of AbsenceIf a student
wishes to take a leave of absence from his course after enrolment and
within the first four weeks of course commencement, UiTM will transfer
any fees paid to the next semester. If the student subsequently
withdraws, the Refund Policy applies from the date UiTM received advice
regarding the leave of absence. If the student applies for leave of
absence from the fifth week of the semester, his place will be held, but
all fees paid for that semester will be forfeited.
Medical InsuranceAs of July 2009
intake, all international students are required to have a medical
insurance policy to cover their medical costs while studying in
Malaysia. International students may opt to subscribe the medical
insurance policy from an appointed agent by the university upon
registration. Without a medical insurance policy, the student visa will
not be issued by the Immigration Department of Malaysia.
Other ConditionsThe student is
expected to attend all classes and undertake all tests and examinations
within a course and abide by all rules and regulations of the university
that are in force at any time.
Payment Procedures

PRIVATE SPONSORED STUDENTS :
Please forward your payment to the
Bursar of UiTM according to the standard procedure stated in your offer
letter as soon as you receive results of placement test. You will be
required to present proof of payment to the Coordinator of FEC before
you begin your English Course.

GOVERNMENT SPONSORED STUDENTS :
Please provide a copy of
financial affidavit (letter of guarantee) from your sponsor to be
submitted to Coordinator of FEC before you begin your English Course.
The letter must be certified by the University International Centre and
will be used as proof of being sponsored by a responsible party.

OTHERS
Please forward your payment to the Bursar of UiTM
according to the standard procedure stated in your offer letter as soon
as you receive results of placement test. You will be required to
present proof of payment to the Coordinator of FEC before you begin your
English Course.

NOTE: AS A STANDARD PROCEDURE, IF A STUDENT DECIDES TO LEAVE FEC DUE
TO UNAVOIDABLE REASONS WITHIN THE FIRST TWO WEEKS, 75% OF THE TOTAL FEE
WILL BE REIMBURSED TO THE STUDENT AT THE END OF THE 8TH WEEK. HOWEVER,
THERE WILL BE NO REIMBURSEMENT IF A STUDENT DECIDES TO LEAVE AFTER THE
FIRST TWO WEEKS. THE SAME PRINCIPLE APPLIES TO SPONSORED STUDENTS
WHEREBY PAYMENT WILL BE CLAIMED FROM THE SPONSORED BODY (25%) IF A
STUDENT DECIDES TO LEAVE WITHIN THE FIRST TWO WEEKS AND THE TOTAL FEE
WILL BE CLAIMED FROM THE SPONSORED BODY IF THE STUDENT DECIDES TO LEAVE
AFTER THE FIRST TWO WEEKS. THIS IS TO ENSURE THAT THE PROGRAM RUNS
SMOOTHLY AND EFFICIENTLY THROUGHOUT
THE WHOLE SEMESTER.
