How to Write Research Proposal Applicants for higher degree programmes by research are required to submit a comprehensive statement of the research programme which they propose to carry out. The proposal should comprise the following elements:- •Field of Research •Topic of Research Proposal •Background or a brief literature review on the research topic •Objective of Study
Explain the objective(s) that influence the research
•Methodology of study
Explain the methods used in study such as library research, lab work, field work, historical documentary, interview, survey, evaluation and analysis, etc.
• Work schedule • Equipment required (where applicable) • Please give details on the estimated cost (where applicable) • Brief bibliography The research proposal should contain between 1,500 - 2,000 words or about four (4) pages.

What to Submit?
A complete application package should consist of the following items (for Non-Malaysian and International Students):
• A complete, signed application form
• A certified true copy of Transcript/mark sheets
• Evidence of English proficiency (TOEFL or IELTS preferred, if any)
• Evidence of Malaysian University English Test (MUET) proficiency, if any
• Non-refundable application processing fee of US$ 30.00 in a form of a bank draft payable to Bendahari, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (applicable to international applicants residing outside Malaysia) OR RM 100.00 in a form of either a Malaysian money order or a postal order, payable to Bendahari, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (applicable to applicants who submit application forms in Malaysia)
• Certified copies of Sijil Pelajaran Tinggi Malaysia (STPM)/Higher School Certificate (HSC)/GCE ‘A’ Level or any other equivalent certificates

Description:
The Master of Dental Science programme is a research work leading to the
submission of dissertation. Students are admitted throughout the year.
Research topic proposed must be in consultation with principle
supervisor. The intake for these programme is throughout the year.

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS
1. Guidelines for Writing Research Proposal
The contents of Research Proposal are as follows:
Attach the proposed research with your application form and send to the respective faculty. 2. An Autobiographical Essay
Not more than 700 words, typewritten on A
4 size paper, using word. The essay is basically about yourseft. It
should tell us about you and essentially what you would want the reader
to know about yourself. The essay could focus on your personal life,
your background, your achievements, accomplishments or on your
experiences. Nobody knows you better than yourseft, so tell the readers
all that you would want them to know about you. How well you’ll do this,
depends on your ideas and your writing skills.
3. Guidelines for International Applicants
Below are some basic guidelines for international applicants of UiTM's Postgraduate Programmes.
Academic Qualification
Language Proficiency Applicants
must show proficiency in English as all programmes are conducted in
English. International candidates applying for graduate programmes must
have a TOEFL score of 550 or an IELTS score of at least Band 6.0. These
scores are to be submitted together with the application. If necessary,
applicants will be asked to go through an academic English Programme.
This intensive pre-sessional programme is conducted from April to May
for a nominal sum.

English Language ProficiencyAll
international applicants from non-English speaking countries applying
for postgraduate studies in UiTM are required to show proof of English
language proficiency as follows:
Any other English language certificates other than
TOEFL and IELTS are not accepted by the university. If the student, at
the time of registration, fails to show proof of the required English
language test results, he/she will be required to attend a Foundation
English Course (FEC) for 1 semester, provided he/she passed the
Placement Test. Otherwise, the student will be required to attend
English Courses outside UiTM.
Visa Conditions
Refund Policy
DefermentYou are allowed to
defer your admission to the following semester. This can be done only
once. Application for deferment of study can be made by filling the
‘Application for Deferment of Study’ form which is to be submitted
together with a processing fee of RM50.00.
Leave of AbsenceIf a student
wishes to take a leave of absence from his course after enrolment and
within the first four weeks of course commencement, UiTM will transfer
any fees paid to the next semester. If the student subsequently
withdraws, the Refund Policy applies from the date UiTM received advice
regarding the leave of absence. If the student applies for leave of
absence from the fifth week of the semester, his place will be held, but
all fees paid for that semester will be forfeited.
Medical InsuranceAs of July 2009
intake, all international students are required to have a medical
insurance policy to cover their medical costs while studying in
Malaysia. International students may opt to subscribe the medical
insurance policy from an appointed agent by the university upon
registration. Without a medical insurance policy, the student visa will
not be issued by the Immigration Department of Malaysia.
Other ConditionsThe student is
expected to attend all classes and undertake all tests and examinations
within a course and abide by all rules and regulations of the university
that are in force at any time.
